5 Foodies We’d Pay to Watch Host the My Zim Plate TV Show

When a call was officially made for Zimbabwean foodies to bid to present a Food Show, we got inspired. My Plate Zim is a soon-to-be-launched culinary show on DStv’s Honey Channel.  According to the press beat; the show is in the style of existing series on the Honey Channel such as My Naija Plate, My Kenyan Plate and My Zambian Plate. Because we couldn’t leave it to chance, here’s a list of our fighters!

These are Zimbabwean professional foodies we think could definitely make the cut because of their style, personalities, social media following and of course Instagram grids that will have you licking your phone.

Chef Cola | @africanveganonabudget

Nicola Kagoro better known as African Vegan on IG is an International Award-winning chef.  Actually, she was just listed as one of 50 trailblazing Activists by 50 Best and can boast of having a Forbes for changing the narrative of the vegan culture in Africa. Cola was trained at the renowned PLANT cafĆ© in Cape Town, South Africa, where she rose to become a head chef before creating African Vegan on a Budget in 2016.

Chef Rumbie | @chef_rumbie

Activist, Business Woman and Chef; Rumbidzai Mugabe is a remarkable Creative. Not only is her life’s work cooking, making home deliveries, training and placing other chefs. She consults as a health and safety officer too.

Chef Kuda Makoni | @chefkudamakoni

Kudakwashe Makoni has been about kitchen life since he was 6 years old. Popularly known on social media as The Black Chef; he’s a Culinary Arts Management graduate who has run and setup highly profitable kitchens in the US, UAE, Bahrain, Zimbabwe and now in Accra, Ghana as Group Executive Chef of the Groupe Sebastien. His mouth-watering series of reels of food we can hardly pronounce is all the proof in the pudding we need.

The Mixologist | @the_mixologist_zw

Though Ashler Jaya is better known for mixing up the dranks as a professional mixologist and bar service; she’s a qualified Chef who has our mouths watering every time her well-platted champagne brunches land on our TLs. Ashler is a content creator and it shows. Did you know she sang too? Wow.

Carl Joshua Ncube | @carljoshuancube

Celebrity Chef, Comedian and all-round creative Carl Joshua Ncube has definitely had he’s own fair share of screen time. We stay sbwling from the terraces as he rolls a big ol pig on a spit, makes out of this world eggs and curries. For sure how cool would it be to finally watch him do his chef ting. fr fr?

Did we leave anyone out? Food experts and enthusiasts who would like to audition My Zim Plate as presenters should create captivating one-minute videos, explaining how to prepare their favourite Zimbabwean dish.
