Hello Harare
Are you ready to come outside and play?
I’m here to tell you about an exciting new project that’s launching late this month, the last Sunday of September called Creative District.
Yes. It’s called Creative District, and one thing is for certain, if you have any creative bone in your body, even just an inkling, you don’t want to miss it. But in the case that you do, despite the terrible undying and lingering sense of FOMO that will take residence in your spirit if you don’t come out to witness the beginning of this movement, there’s always next time as mentioned its only the beginning.
So what is this thing I’m yapping about? Well, in case you missed the 5-6 lines above that are enough to constitute a paragraph, it’s called the CREATIVE DISTRICT, and it’s a playground for all kinds of creatives to come together and play. One thing about people in the creative sector is we know how to play hard, but perhaps its time we learn how to work smart because working hard is boring, am I right? And what better place to connive and forge smart pathways than a playground? Don’t the best ideas come when you stop trying so hard and stop chasing them? Don’t believe me? Well come out on September 27th and prove me wrong.
The idea with the creative district is to create a central place where creatives and artists from a myriad of disciplines come together to connect, collaborate, create and celebrate. The goal of this recurring event and movement is to actively take steps to build a lucrative creative economy for ourselves, and ultimately take control of our identity and narrative to make sure the perception of who we are as a people is never lost in translation because we are not only in control but at the forefront. Its undeniable the impact artistry has on the world, there’s also no doubt in the part it plays in communicating and enlightening people of things they don’t know whether due to geography or ignorance, not to mention its unifying factor. Sometimes when you can’t get a seat at the table, you build your own table and invite others to it with the goal of someday building a world class restaurant because if there’s one thing we all have in common is food, we all have to eat.
The motto at the creative district is • CREATE • CONNECT • CELEBRATE and we have so much in store to make every single aspect of this motto come true on this day the Lord has made…well will make. We’re going to take you through an array of vibes and activities as the event starts in the afternoon, throughout the day and transcends into the night time. All carefully designed and curated to encourage and inspire creativity, connection, a coalescence of ideas and ultimately a celebration. Heavy emphasis on the celebration part, because if you’ve been in this industry or sector long enough, you know how hard it is just to exist as an artist, and it’s a miracle that you’ve come this far considering how many times you’ve almost threw in the towel. That’s a feeling and emotion that no one else will comprehend more than us who are within the space and so consequentially no one can celebrate another creative or artist like an artist or creative can because we all the know the blood, sweat and tears that goes into our mere existence and perseverance.
Our event will offer a playground where we’ll provide interactive games and activities to engage you and put your creative gear into play to help those creative juices to start flowing. As the day progresses we’ll put on a show for you through live performances and creative showcases from our very own, with the goal of either putting you on to something or someone you weren’t familiar with before or expanding your palate. And then of course, because no one knows how to put on a celebration like us, the Night after Dark portion of our event will feature High energy DJ sets, with good music and a big enough space for you to dance the night away under the dark starry skies and hopefully for a moment forget about whatever woes and worries you have as you just lose yourself in the music and In the crowd before bidding farewell to each other (until next time).
Oh, and I almost forgot about a very special segment for music lovers. We will host a music listening session called MUSICHEARTS, for everyone who feels that they should have a stamp on their forehead that says IHEARTMUSIC. If music has a special place in your heart, come join us in an album listening session/club called MUSICHEARTS which is an intentional communal experience where people come together to listen to an album or curated body of music with the shared goal of dissecting and sharing their thoughts, feelings, interpretations and reactions to the record—similar to how a book club brings people together to discuss literature.
Okay I’ve yapped enough, if you still can’t see this picture I’ve painted, come experience it for yourself September 27th, the last Sunday of this beautiful month. If you sleep on this, we’ll wake you up when September ends on a green day. More announcements to follow, the first one being, EARLY BIRDS ARE NOW ON SALE. FLIPPIN TICKETS.
