Over 30 theatre professionals from Spain, UK, Vietnam, Colombia, Rwanda, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, the United States and Zimbabwe are set to converge in Harare for the Mitambo International Theatre Festival. A program of critically acclaimed productions from across the world will be capped off by a live concert from celebrated Victoria Falls band Mokoomba.

Now in its 7th edition, the festival will be running from September 22 – 26 at the iconic Reps Theatre. The festival is set to host 5 days of performances, workshops, professional development and cultural exchanges.

The theme for this year’s edition is “Belonging” and it will see the event exploring questions of identity, community, connection and finding a place in a rapidly changing world.

Since its establishment in 2019, Mitambo has developed into an international theatre platform connecting Zimbabwean and African artists with practitioners and institutions from around the world.

Organised by the Zimbabwe Theatre Academy, the festival uses theatre to advance artistic exchange, professional development, cultural diplomacy, skills transfer and social connection.
