In a powerful demonstration of the unifying force of culture, the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) welcomed a delegation from Rwanda for a peer-to-peer exchange programme, reaffirming that art transcends borders, languages, and nationalities.

The visit forms part of Rwanda’s preparations to operationalise its own Arts Council, with Zimbabwe sharing its wealth of experience, institutional knowledge, and best practices developed over the years in nurturing and promoting the creative sector. More than an exchange of ideas, the engagement represents a shared commitment to building stronger creative industries that empower artists, preserve cultural heritage, and contribute to sustainable economic development across Africa.

Art has long been a universal language—one capable of connecting people through shared stories, traditions, and aspirations. As Zimbabwe and Rwanda come together, they demonstrate how cultural collaboration can strengthen diplomatic ties while creating opportunities for artists, cultural practitioners, and creative entrepreneurs to learn from one another.

Zimbabwe’s arts sector has played a significant role in preserving the nation’s identity, celebrating its diverse heritage, and amplifying African voices on the global stage. By opening its doors to regional partners, the country continues to position itself as a leader in fostering creative excellence and cultural exchange.

The peer-to-peer programme also reflects a growing recognition that Africa’s creative economy is strongest when nations work together. Through collaboration, countries can develop policies that support artists, encourage innovation, protect cultural heritage, and create sustainable opportunities for future generations.

As Rwanda embarks on establishing its own Arts Council, this partnership serves as a reminder that the future of African arts lies not in competition but in cooperation. Every shared lesson, every conversation, and every new partnership contributes to a more connected and vibrant creative continent.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe’s hosting of the Rwandan delegation is therefore more than an institutional exchange—it is a celebration of African unity through culture. It is proof that while nations may be separated by geography, art continues to bring people together, inspiring dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared vision for a thriving creative Africa.
