Unplugged, Harare’s premier music festival, will returning to its roots this month with an all local lineup.
Headlined by Takura & Shona Prince, the event will celebrate the duality of one of the most loved artists in Zimbabwean music. The full discography of Zimbabwe’s “King of R&B” will be on display with a live band in tow.
Alongside the singer will be Afro R&B and pop royalty Tamy Moyo, the founder of TrapSu Tanto Wavie, “Huya” hitmaker Sylent Nqo, talented vocalist Tahle We Dzinza and gifted vibe curators The Travellers Band.
On the decks will be renowned spinner Reverb7, the dexterous Pretty Gangsta, and the award winning DJ RSK.
Now under the stewardship of King Kandoro, Unplugged enters a bold new chapter that sees them reinvigorated and once again the talk of the town. In a recent interview the award winning comedian revealed that he had been a longtime admirer of the event before the stars aligned late last year and he purchased it from its founders Chiedza Danha and Ellinah Chipumha.
In addition to celebrating local this August, Unplugged will once again be giving a platform to the future of Zimbabwean music with “The Next Superstar” initiative. For this edition the selected artist is Delight Hungwe. The rising Afro pop artist will get his moment in front of thousands and this could potentially be a springboard for his career.
Tickets for the August edition of Unplugged are on sale via Hype Nation.
