With elections on the horizon in the country First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, who earlier in March urged churches to pray for peace ahead of the harmonised elections, will be the joining fellow first ladies from several mega–churches as a Guest of Honour at the National Women Day Of Prayer set for this weekend.
Mrs Mnangagwa, who is a lifelong member of the Methodist Church together with her husband President Emmerson Mnangagwa, will be joined by ZAOGA’ s Apostle Eunor Guti, Apostle Petunia Chiriseri from His Presence Ministries International, UFIC‘s Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, Evangelist Chiweshe, Mai Gunguwo and Pastor Magwenzi at the five-hour event this Saturday June 16, at the Glamis Arena, Harare Show Grounds.
Gospel singers Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Minister Hope, Mai Meki, Nyasha Mutonhori and Pastor Barbra will be providing soundtracks to the prayerful day, among others.
An official proclamation on a flier making rounds on social media is calling all women and girls from all Zimbabwean churches to join in the service which is certain to draw multitudes.

Some digital natives have however criticised the idea of the First Lady appearing on such a lofty church gathering, pointing out that it is a ploy to solicit the Christian majority.

Some have even gone to the crests of equalling the prayer service to the November 2017 Super Sunday Church Interface Rally, an event the then First Lady Grace Mugabe exploited to shoot down the then Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, making many accusations against him.
Well, for now, it is obscure how the National Women Day Of Prayer will swing, but people should brace themselves for whatever dimension it takes.
It is rather, fairly agreeable that most of us cannot be less overwhelmed to see the first lady, shouldering the new weight of her title and position and taking a courageous stand along with our mothers, sisters and daughters in a prayer for God’s help and assistance in our nation.
