Deep End Celebrates it’s 50th Edition with a live collaboration of Violin, Guitar and Percussion

Hidden Culture’s Deep End is on this coming weekend for a special milestone edition. The big 50. A number that also marks 8 years of Deep End and 8 years of Hidden Culture’s dedication to celebrating and bringing house/dance music to intimate crowds.

On Friday the 16th of June, homegrown dextrous DJ; Jason Le Roux will lead a 5 hour+ long set with live collaborations, infusing violin, guitar and percussion. Deep End’s 50th edition is set to be a unique music experience.

The musician, director, writer, storyteller/actor, healer, director of Mhondoro Dreams Productions and the founder of the Nyamatsatse Festival Klara Ana Rosa (Wojtkowska) will be on the violin. The multitalented creative holds a B.M. in Violin Performance.

On the guitar will be the man known as the “Guitar Sangoma”, Sylent Nqo. A Zimbabwean guitarist, composer, singer, songwriter and band-leader who has persistently shaped the concept of music through his eclectic fusion of musical styles/genres from a multitude of ethnic sources.

Percussion will be in the hands of Kudzai Muwori, popularly known as Wowrae. A percussionist, specializing in marimba and Zimbabwean ngoma, amongst various percussion instruments from different cultures. He is both a music teacher and a performer. The performance aspect of WOWRAE fuses marimba and ngoma with Afro Tech/Afro House, creating a unique experience like no other. He is one half of a group called Skyroot, that performs this fusion of percussion and these genres.

The event is set to take place on the 16th of June at The Underground bar at The Venue in Harare’s Avondale suburb. Tickets are priced at $10 each.
