Prophet Magaya Launches New App Amid Backlashes Over His Economic Prophecy

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance founder, Prophet/Dr Walter Magaya has launched a new game-changing social network app called Lets Chat which will offer solution against fake news.

The prophet met with the ICT and Cyber Security Minister Super Mandiwanzira at his offices on Thursday morning, Jan 4 before they both went on to address members of the media.

Addressing journalists, Prophet Magaya said that fake news has become a serious national problem with many victims, he included, hence he created a technological solution to curb the problem.

He said that unlike other social applications that allow the circulation of the hoax the newly arrived Lets Chat have a flag out button to identify fake news and a comment section from the administrator that helps warn the public on any trending fake news.

He said:

‘Of course it’s difficult to curb fake news, but on our Lets Chat we have a space called notification. Notification is a tab which is our tab as the host of Lets Chat. For example there is fake news circulating maybe saying that Magaya is dead. On our notification you can post the real news.

For example speaking out of record let us look at WhatsApp, if fake news is circulating the owners of WhatsApp we don’t know them, they cannot clarify whatever news is circulating. But us as Lets Chat we can actually send a disclaimer and say “what is circulating has not been produced by us, people are just speaking, the truth is like this and this and this.’

The app was officially launched during the PHD Cross Over All Night Service on the 31st of December and 122 000 downloads were registered, leading to their system crashing down the server, hence they need a stronger and a bigger one. The Dr., therefore, met with the minister to discuss the opportunity to host the Lets chat system over the TelOne data centre servers.

The ICT Minister welcomed the new app and he said such developments are in line with the government’s vision to promote local innovations.

“We support what PHD is doing in ICTs , they will be looking into hosting their application at TelOne data centre, their usage of the data centre will add more revenue to TelOne, and this is the direction we need to grow our economy.”

Although the app was launched during a church service the prophet said the platform was not meant for PHD believers alone but was open to all Zimbabweans and it has added features that can carry out as many as 20 video conference calls among other special features.

This new development comes at a time when the prophet is suffering a consequential backlash after he predicted an economic rebound under the new political dispensation led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Addressing journalists during his cross-over all-night service on New Year’s Eve, Magaya said with the ascendancy of Mnangagwa as President, economic recovery and individual prosperity were now possible.

The prophecy, although well-received by his congregations, caught fire with some members of the public. Here are some of the reactions.
