Mussa Effect; Calvin Musandu is a young Zimbabwean Afro-pop Artist with a fresh solo career. Silent Night, his first featured single was released in December 2016 and landed itself on charts like Africa Hot 30 on Trace Africa amongst other international TV Stations. The single’s success opened doors for Mussa as he found himself performing at the Toni Braxton and Babyface welcome party. Mussa was also privileged to not only perform but also to host the Toya Delazy Rock The City concert that same year.

Last year Mussa Effect released his first official single titled Turn Me Up featuring Bulawayo based Multiple award-winning rapper CalVin with quirky post-apocalyptic visuals, landing it on a number of Chart shows; also leading to Mussa’s nomination for a contract with Sony Music Middle Eastern as the only African artist up against global musos landing him on the 6th only two places from Sony’s 1st to 4th place selection.

This hasn’t deterred the 20-something Artist; this year Mussa Effect is working on releasing his debut album titled Effected: Humba Makombe as well as a documentary based on the production of the project. Speaking to #ENTHUSE about the 15 track album, the Turn Me Up singer coyly kept us in the dark on the details of the collaborators; although, he did highlight that this would be an infusion of sound unlike the ‘usual’ Zimbabwean idea of Afro-Pop;

“It’s safe to say I’m bringing a completely new sound to the local music scene..right now I can reveal that there’s a song I did with Kojo Robinson, an American artist that was in Zimbabwe just a few weeks ago amongst another international artist”, he said

Most of the album is produced by Mutare-based C Bleech; a producer fairly new to the Zimbabwean Pop scene. Mussa highlighted that the album would also feature songs produced by the likes of Reverb7 who has worked with the likes of Fungai Nengare, Tina Masawi and Shingi Mangoma.

Will this album be the fireball Mussa Effect has promised? Well, only time will tell!

Effected: Humba Makombe is scheduled to drop this August.
