It’s hasn’t even been a week into Women’s Month guys but the most viral video alludes to the undeniable societal ill that is Gender Based Violence.

A video of South African Gqom Queen Babes Wodumo being assaulted by boyfriend and artist Mampintsha went viral on social media on Monday. Babes woDumo was live on Instagram early this morning when the assault happened. In the graphic video, Babes and Mampintsha argue and the latter clearly slaps Babes as she whimpers.

The incident confirms the viral interview on a Metro FM interview hosted by Msechaba Ndhlovu where Babes Wodumo broke down on live radio at the mention of what was then alleged abuse.

Masechaba came under for the interview and was called all sorts of names for it but…more on that later.

The video had Social Media ablaze and South African celebs in their feels. A mixture of encouragement and legal advice to Babes woDumo, hurled insults peppered with angry calls for Mampintsha flooded the TL.

Rapper Reason and Presenter Sizwe Dhlomo are not sorry and were clearly hella repelled by Mampintsha’s actions.

Government officials came to the party and spoke strongly against GBV.

While some of the more influential public figures chose to protect their peace by being vague.

According to a family spokesperson, Bongekile ‘Babes Wodumo’ Simelane placed charges at a local police station on Monday afternoon. Details of the charges are being kept under wraps for her safety and the police have invited Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo to hand himself in for questioning.

We send love, light and strength to Babes Wodumo during this trying time
and hope that justice is indeed served.
