As you know, we’re always rooting for the underdog and Prince Kaybee is just that! From literal rags to riches, Prince Kaybee has become a highly sought after DJ in the region over a relatively short period of time. This has earned him awards and nominations for his singles, which have been nothing short of banging; from ‘Charlotte’, ‘Club Controller’ and his current joint with Busiswa ‘Banomoya‘. Yup, mans works hard, makes good shit and is a scorcher 🔥; who can say no to that? So, here’s a little list to give you a little more insight on Prince Kaybee.

1. He was homeless for 3 Years

It wasn’t all peachy for the Prince Kaybee that we know and love. Just like  American A-listers like Jeniffer Lopez and Sylvester Stallone, he was homeless for nearly three years and would bum on his girlfriend’s couch. In high school, Kaybee took the plunge for his dream and dropped out, and moved to a new town. He told ZAlebs

I got tired of being that guy who’s sitting on the couch…I left home, I went to Bloem…I was a very clever homeless boy, I lived with my girlfriend, [sometimes when she was angry] she’d say ‘yo my ni**ga go sleep somewhere else.'”

2. If it were up to him, he would have been a Football Player

In an interview on SABC 3’s Trending SA Kaybee explained how despite his Musical success, Football was his initial plan,

“It has never been something that I wanted to do, actually music is a plan B, I was gonna be a soccer star. I played for the under 19 Bloemfontein Celtics and during training, I turned my knee cap on my right, I kept on limping in practice so I thought – let me rather do something else and so music came” he said.

3. He ‘Made it’ on Reality TV

Prince Kaybee broke out into the mainstream to forever impact our dancefloor work out plans in 2015. The ‘Club Controller‘ star won on the second season of South African DJ reality show 1’s And 2’s several years ago which featured the likes of SPHEctacula and Naves. The rest is as they say, history. You can watch the then fresh-faced Prince Kaybee on the finale of the show way back then on YouTube here. Prince Kaybee also announced via Twitter that he’ll be returning to the show as a judge, life’s nice ey?! How’s this for a happy ending?

Prince Kaybee will be performing in Harare on the 10th of November alongside Cassper Nyovest at the RSVP Concert featuring Zimbabwean acts like Takura, Jah Signal and ExQ at the Glamis Arena. You can get your Advanced Tickets today on Click n Pay Africa
