Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader, Prophet Walter Magaya was last week conferred with an honorary doctorate in theology by the prestigious University of South Africa (UNISA).
According to ZBC News, hundreds of people gathered at the Miriam Makeba Memorial Hall at the UNISA campus in Pretoria to witness the event.
Guest of honor at the event, Dr Kangwa said graduates need to be very responsible as the cap of honor bestowed on them demands them to work extra hard.
“You must carry the responsibility of your qualifications to add value to the society they belong to,” he said.
Also among the graduates was Dr Miriam Jukulu from Tanzania, who emphasized that this certification has rejuvenated her and is raring to go and deliver back home in Tanzania.
Dr Magaya said he feels honored and is going to work extra hard to save the entire populace of Zimbabwe and beyond. The graduates were drawn from SADC countries which included South Africa, Lesotho, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
To the uninitiated, Prophet Walter Magaya is among the most celebrated self-proclaimed prophets in Zimbabwe. He rose to prominence in 2012 after his visit to the Nigerian televangelist and founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN) T. B. Joshua who is believed to have anointed him to become a great prophet.
His clerical career has been rife with nothing but miracles, wonders, scandals and trends. Sometime in 2014 he allegedly converted Beverly Sibanda who is affectionately known as Bev a renowned pole dancer.
In 2015, he was reported to have prophesied that there would be a fire which would break out in the Central Business District of Harare near First Street. Two weeks later this prophecy apparently came true. No fatalities and damages were caused by the fire and Magaya claimed that he also prayed for that.
In another bizarre case that occurred in August 2016, the man of the cloth was arrested on rape charges. According to the case, he had raped an MSU student, Petronella Donhodzo Mandaza, at one of his residences in Harare, and had later given her $200. He was released on US $2,000 bail shortly afterward to appear in court again for trial. Magaya had indicated days earlier that he was the target of extortion.
Recently, he was in the news after his surprise inclusion in the team of former Zimbabwe National Soccer Team stars match between the Zimbabwe Warriors Legends and the Barcelona Legends at the National Sports Stadium.
