He has been touted one of the greatest performers in Zimbabwe. A chanter who is guaranteed a hit in every year, whose penchant for dropping a chart-topping album every single end of the year from about 4 years ago. In a move that might have been seen by many as progressive, the superstar released a collaboration with Beenie Man, a world-renowned dancehall artiste who was in the country a couple of months ago.
However, the music video for the song, My Woman, which was released today is a major anticlimax. In what has proved to be the norm for this high flying artist, the video looks like it was released 4 years late! We have had very good advancements these past years in the music video production industry with directors such as Andy Cutta and Blaqs who have been behind gems of music videos which made their way to regional music stations. It’s a wonder if Winky D has not discovered the talent in these directors yet.
Not dwelling on the obvious lack of creativity in this video, it’s sad that Winky failed to utilise the opportunity to shine in this collaboration. The song itself is not much to focus on with both artistes failing to live up to their hype. It might not have been a serious project for Beenie Man but at least Winky should have went all out in his true Gafa fashion that we have all gotten used to in his bangers.
This is not the first time that Winky D has failed release a video that raises much interest with his last solo video coming almost a year late. This was then premiered in Botswana much to the annoyance of his loyal fans. His saving grace might be Rugare by Buffalo Souljah which he featured on.
Now that he has dropped this subpar video, do you think that Winky D has what it takes to dance on the international arena? Clearly, this guy has a broken relationship with visuals!
Check out the video below and tell us what you think!
