Partnership brings about an innovative online project to centralize heritage restitution information

In an exciting collaboration, Arterial Network Zimbabwe and Africa No Filter have come together to launch a groundbreaking initiative called the African Heritage Restitution Tracker. This project aims to create a centralized online platform that serves as a comprehensive repository of information on heritage restitution developments across the African continent.

A Hub of Knowledge for Heritage Restitution Advocates
Tracker to provide policymakers, scholars, journalists, and stakeholders with valuable insights

The African Heritage Restitution Tracker is set to revolutionize the way information is shared on heritage restitution in Africa. This innovative platform will be a valuable resource for policymakers, scholars, journalists, and various stakeholders interested in the restoration of Africa’s stolen heritage. By providing a centralized hub of knowledge, the tracker aims to keep individuals informed and engaged in the ongoing efforts to reclaim Africa’s cultural treasures.

Filling the Information Gap

Addressing the scarcity of information and media coverage on heritage restitution in Africa

One of the key motivations behind the African Heritage Restitution Tracker is to address the information gap surrounding heritage restitution in Africa. Currently, information on this crucial topic is scarce, and media coverage is insufficient. This project aims to bridge that gap by providing a platform that consolidates and disseminates information, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to the latest developments and insights.

Reclaiming Africa’s Stolen Heritage

A call to correct colonial narratives and restore dignity

Heritage restitution is about much more than the return of cultural artefacts; it is a movement to correct the colonial narratives and stereotypes that have misrepresented Africa for centuries. Arterial Network Zimbabwe and its partners firmly believe that reclaiming Africa’s stolen heritage is an essential step towards restoring dignity and empowering future generations. By shedding light on these stories and demanding the return of plundered artefacts, they aim to challenge the false narratives created about Africa.

Stephanie Kapfunde, the Vice President of Arterial Network Continental and Chairperson of Arterial Network Zimbabwe, expressed her gratitude towards Africa No Filter for their support in bringing this project to life. She emphasized the significance of the initiative in reclaiming Africa’s plundered heritage, restoring dignity to ancestors whose remains are currently displayed in foreign museums, and enriching African museums.

“It’s time to reclaim what is ours and restore the rightful connection between our people and their cultural heritage. BRAVO Team Arterial! Salute to the Executive Florence Mukanga and our partners Africa No Filter for supporting such a necessity.”

The African Heritage Restitution Tracker project is poised to make a lasting impact in the realm of heritage restitution. By providing a centralized platform for information and sparking dialogue among stakeholders, it aims to rewrite the narrative surrounding Africa’s cultural legacy. Together, Arterial Network Zimbabwe and Africa No Filter are paving the way for a future where Africa’s stolen heritage is rightfully returned and celebrated. Through this project, they aim to promote keywords such as heritage restitution, African cultural treasures, colonial narratives, repatriation, cultural identity, and dignity restoration.
