"There Are Opportunities For Business In Zimbabwe" Stewart Bank CEO

The Stewart Bank CEO Dr Lance Shingirai Mambondiani has said that they are business opportunities that entrepreneurs can venture into despite economic challenges affecting affecting Zimbabwe. Mambondiani said this during the Levels Business Breakfast hosted by the Victory Business Forum held at Meikles Hotel in Harare on Wednesday.
The Steward bank CEO, who was also the guest speaker during the event, said that opportunities in business were emanating from the problems affecting the country.
“Opportunities are from problems in our country” said Mambondiani.
Many tenders are being awarded to Chinese companies which could have been taken by Zimbabweans according to Mambondiani.
Infrastructure in Zimbabwe is now being constructed by Chinese companies including the Long Chen Plaza, a shopping mall in Harare according to the Zimbabwe Independence. Recently the Harare-Beitbridge highway tender was granted to Geiger International an Austrian company and China Harbor Engineering Company Limited, a subsidiary of a Chinese construction company according the the Daily News.
Opportunities in business need people with focus, passion, vision and the right mentality of business. There are a lot of infrastructures that need to be developed in Zimbabwe. These include the roads, bridges and even the telecommunications.
Focus is one of the qualities of a successful person in business given by Mambondiani, the CEO of a bank that opened and survived during the era that saw many banks closing. Many successful business people around the world are focused in whatever they are doing.
“Successful people had a vision” said Mambondiani. The vision was to make a change to the world.
Mambondiani stated that there was need for someone to have the right mentality for entrepreneurship.With reference to Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates, the Stewart bank CEO said that entrepreneurs had to have the right mentality.Dr Mambondiani advised entrepreneurs to make successful people like Bill Gates their leaders and not politicians for them to build the right mentality.
Dr Lance Shingai Mambondiani is Chief Executive Officer at Steward Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Econet Wireless Limited. The current CEO joined the bank in July 2013 as Business Development & Strategy Executive. He was appointed Acting CEO in February 2015 and confirmed as substantive CEO in August 2015. Mambondiani is also a lawyer and a banker with years of experience at executive level.

Victory Business Forum (VBF) is an initiative by Celebration Ministries International which serves to address training and development of business executives in Zimbabwe. The business breakfast, which was chaired by Mike Madoda and also attended by Gary Thomson, also helped those in the business sector grow their businesses.
