Amanzi Art Gallery which is housed on the walls of the serene and beautiful Amanzi Restuarant in Newlands, Harare, will play host to an exhibition of a new school of art. This exhibition is titled What Made Us and will feature the work of two young women Lilian Magodi and Naume Chaoke.

These two ladies met during their training at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe Schol of Visual Art and Design. From they forged a very strong bond through their mutual love for Art. Their exhibition at Amnzi will be fused with soundscapes created by Ian Mhlanga, who wrote and recorded a digital soundtrack to each piece, pulling together the works and their stories.

Lilian is seasoned in exhibitions having participated in the Can You See Me exhibition at Tsoko Gallery and What About Us at Gallery Delta. She prefers monotype, which she uses to speak about the connection between women and their children. Naume’s weaves a story of enormous courage through adversity, having learned to paint and draw using her toes. Amaze-balls!  yet her subject matter shows a deep sympathy for those that she perceives to be less unfortunate than herself.

The What Made Us exhibition will be showcased on the 4th of August at Amanzi Art Gallery from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The restaurant will be open afterward but you can book a table earlier to avoid disappointment.
