Casson & Friends present ‘The Dance WE Made Harare’

British dance artist Tim Casson and his collaborators will perform THE DANCE WE MADE today at Girls High Gym Hall, a new dance piece made up of moves collected from Zimbabweans on the street during Harare International Festival of the Arts. This show will feature other artists collaborating to celebrate collective creativity and is directed by Casson & Friends. A Record Breaking UK based dance theatre company, creating performance that is “accessible, interactive and joyful.”

The company bring together a diverse range of collaborators from filmmakers and musicians to computer programmers and psychologists, but most often collaborate with the public, inviting them to engage with dance and performance in exciting and accessible ways.

With a passion for bringing dance to people in new and unusual contexts, C&F’s work to date has been presented in a range of settings including Shopping Centres, Libraries, Hotels, Pubs, Offices and Football Stadiums, you might have seen them along OK First Street, Avondale Shops or perhaps along Speke Avenue in the busy Copacabana Market in Harare this past week.C&F also explore the potential of digital technology to create new ways of enhancing and engaging with dance performance.

The company has presented work across the UK and Internationally including at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Glastonbury Festival, Brighton Digital Festival, bOing International Family Festival, The Lyon Biennale, Downtown Dance Festival in New York and Festival Quartiers Danses in Montreal and now, right here in Harare courtesy of the British Council. The show kicks off at 11:30 and Tickets are $8. Don’t miss out!
