Reinvented & Victorious: 14 Women Writes 14 Stories On Insecurities & Winning

706 1

You have likely heard that storytelling is important for life in general and that it’s a powerful tool that has a potential for massive lasting impact.

Humans are empathic creatures and as such, we respond to stories because they cultivate emotion, a sense of self and togetherness — a connection.

But what will happen if all the stories we come by are about tragedy, war, marginalisation, the infinite phobias of this world and downright negative?

Would we grow together and stay connected or will we grow up discouraged, uninspired, disparate, prejudiced and hardwired to negativity?

As it appears, a group of Zimbabwean women storytellers met and ruled out that negativity and insecurities should never be a defining factor in the life of humanity; rather it is victory and the journey to reinvention that should.

In their new anthology entitled Reinvented & Victorious: 14 Women. 14 Stories. From insecurities to winning!, fourteen women take on the emotional arduous task of sharing their journeys from places of lowliness and darkness to triumphs, proving to mankind that as a strong-willed person, you have to meet the world head-on and not be deterred by those who say something can’t be done.

A brainchild of author Yvonne C. Mtengwa and contributed by the likes of Cynthia Chirinda, Ruvimbo Makoni, Norah Spie, Rutendo Mutsamwira, Chido Mashanyare, Yolande Nyamugama, Tsungi Fundira, Edith Utete, Takudzwa Chitsike, Gina Mvere, Memory Darikwa, Louisa Choruma and Irine Matanga, the work comes from vibrant personalities who knows firsthand the positive potential of a strong will channelled appropriately.

In an introductory communiqué, visionary author Mtengwa said that while it took her like forever to share her story with the world, it made it easy for her to accelerate in life in the aftermath.

“…in October of last year I announced that I was looking for a group of women who I could take on a publishing journey for what would be the first Reinvented Anthology. Having the courage to share my story was a 10-year process, but making the decision to move full-steam ahead took a moment. It was time, and I didn’t think I could truly walk in my authenticity until I mustered the courage to write my first book,” she said.

The book is now available on Amazon, and you can get a copy here.
