Why Our Oktoberfest Rocked!

We had a brilliant Oktoberfest over the weekend! ‘Rocktoberfest’ the Beer Festival was conjoined with a food festival to cater for both sides of consumption. A Beer haven for most, booze was flowing although there were several complaints from revellers on the of the $10 scorcher. We weren’t complaining that only local brands were being sold at generous pump prices but the rest were being sold at bar rates and beyond. (Here that? That’s the sound of our wallets failing in the ER)

The atmosphere was chilled in the afternoon, the stands weren’t that busy as the crowd was relatively small. However at sunset human traffic increased at the gate and the venue was starting to get lively. Resident Live music / DJ group, The Movement had a good day in office as they set the tone for the evening party. Their joint performance with Silent Nqo was fresh, a fusion of live guitar, drums and EDM. After their breathtaking performance followed the ever slaying DJ Naida. All those who have attended her shows know that she brings the fire and as per usual she was fully charged. Riding on the wave of the party mood she left the decks in the hands of an accomplished DJ Jason Le Roux, who brought the house down with is mixes.

Festival goers treated themselves to some Shisha and different types of foods ranging from Indian to traditional Zimbabwean meals. Lots of games we played including beer pong, an ice challenge and the biggest game of the night which was a raffle with a return trip to Munich at stake.

The Festival was a success despite some short comings i.e. the aforementioned prices of beer, the overzealous security team who looked like inflated versions of Men In Black. These guys had no idea of the colours used for which tags and ended up harassing some revellers courtesy of the confusion.

Regardless we’ll definitely be looking forward to next year’s edition.
