Tendai Judd Mupfurutsa the son of the late music icon Prince Mupfurutsa, well known as ‘Judd’ is following his father’s footsteps in producing good music. His single ‘Usandisiye’ was embraced well throughout Zimbabwe and gained momentum on local radio charts like Star Fm, Zifm Stereo and Power Fm.
The song even broke barriers including receiving repeat radio plays on BBC Xtra in the United Kingdom by Dj Edu. The hit maker of ‘Usandisiye’ has hooked our attention with yet another piece of Music. Lyric maker cum Producer Judd has given us a new ear soother titled ‘Wanna Be With Me’ showing off the artist-cum-Producer’s multiple talents. The song reflects that he is positively inspired – making music that people can relate to, myself included. I was taken by his contemporary voice, the blend of rap and a beat that provoked me to dance.
The beat is unique unlike too many of the cliché Zimbabwean R&B beats. It does possess a more Western appeal considering Judd is aiming for an international audience.
Although Judd clearly breathes fresh passion on the new single, the track is not entirely perfect. There song has no climax, the beat in as much it can be danced to, is constant throughout leaving the listeners in anticipation waiting for that moment that creates a buzz or turn up moment that never…comes.
That aside, the track is a good effort although there are loopholes here and there. Clearly, Judd is a determined to carry the torch of his family’s Music legacy and from his music it is quite clear that he is doing a remarkable job.
