Hip-Hop Head MUSE Has Rhythm & Flow

Hip-Hop/ Rap music is a genre that has had an impact on ‘the people’ for years. One of Zimbo Music’s latest additions is Hip-Hop artist ‘M.U.S.E’, a Musician and Poet based in Bulawayo. His approach to rapping employs a combination of Hip-Hop and Poetry which is unique, especially in his first track ‘Adore you’ released in July this year.  Birth name, Peter Roy Charles Chester, M.U.S.E is a talented 30-something gifted in wordplay and rhymes he paints vivid pictures in his songs.

At first listen the song was very artistic and a time capsule reminding me strongly of Nas and a long list of other old school Rappers of the 90s. Muse’s Rap reminds us of what Hip-Hop ‘used to be’, his name contrasts the stereotype of Rap Music of street and Revolutionary sound compared to the meaning of musing – “reflecting deeply on a subject.”
One of his latest singles ‘Risk It All’ was well polished with an excellent flow of words. If anything it was too short! The end comes as both a surprise and a major disappointment.

I only worry that Muse closes himself up to a certain age group by maintaining the 90s flair considering the competitive Zimbabwean Rap/Music Industry. Regardless M.U.S.E has insisted that his brand of Music is different from the majority of Hip-Hop you hear nowadays.

Currently, M.U.S.E is working on his full length album titled, The Artist. A 15 tracks long album covering topics ranging  love, loss and, everything in between. Have a listen to ‘Adore You’ produced by Mc Tytoh and be the judge. What do you think ?
