The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Ministry has joined forces with distinct religious consortiums to bring the nation a maiden edition of an annual gospel music festival dubbed Zim Peace/Gospel Festival featuring gospel musicians from across diverse faith.
Launched at the Harare Town House on Thursday afternoon, the fete will take place on Saturday 28 July 2018 at the Glamis Arena in the Capital City, just two days to the general election.
The highly expected fete is of major significance in the calendar of activities in the country as it will feature gospel singers from across diverse persuasions.
Giving a key speech during the launch, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority minister Priscilla Mupfumira emphasised that peace is one of the unique selling points for destination Zimbabwe, and as a ministry, they believe it is imperative for all Zimbabweans to pray for peace in the country.
“The Zimbabwe Peace Festival is a non-denominational, apolitical event which aims to bring together God-fearing artists and the people of Zimbabwe to celebrate and advocate for peace within the nation.
“The event is also a platform for Zimbabweans to pray for political tolerance and for peace and love to prevail before, during and after our elections,” the Minister said.
The Constitution of Zimbabwe acknowledges freedom of worship and the government has ensured that all citizens have the liberty to enjoy any religious affiliation they prefer.
