Entrepreneurs, radio personalities and fellow musicians have praised award-winning and ground-breaking gospel artist Temba Tagwirei aka Tembalami for making music with substance as he prepares to launch his new album The Fight.

Former model and radio personality at Capitalk 100.4 FM. Brita Masalethulini, now going as Miss B, has termed Temba sensational, electrifying, and enigmatic.

She said:

‘Tembalani is one of the greatest gospel artists that we’ve seen in this decade and he has done so well. He’s absolutely sensational, he’s electrifying, he’s enigmatic, but at the same time he gets the  message across. It’s not just the music, but the message that he puts across which is very important.’

Entrepreneur, business mogul, philanthropist and the founder of Kingdom Bank Nigel Chanakira said Tembalani is an amazing artist who he would recommend to anyone.

‘I’m a huge fan of Tembalami. I would say Tembalani is amazing. He’s gifted, blessed with a good voice, and inspiring. I never hesitate to recommend him to any particular audience or any people who are looking to hire a gospel artist,’

He said.

Christian religious leader and gospel musician Pastor G, real name Stanley Gwanzura has also come forth in lauding the Brighter Day maker. The gospel juggernaut who has over ten albums to his name and has worked with some of the most renowned musicians in Zimbabwe and the African continent said that Tembalami’s music brings so much joy.

‘Never before in the history Gospel music in Zimbabwe have ever witness an artist who can combine a multiplicity of genres into one persona. Never before in Zimbabwe can we find an artist who’s on the cutting edge, an innovation of gospel in a way that makes it relevant and reachable to all people of different ages and different backgrounds. His music brings so much joy, it is infectious. I must call him a joy-giver kind of artist. That’s Temabalami for me.’

It is such an awe-inspiring development to see highly-influential people from across different sectors of life coming together to recognize the phenomenon that Tembalani is. Endowed with a natural strong baritone polished by formal and informal training, he is a passionate and inspirational contemporary gospel music artiste.

Having been one of the few artistes from Southern Africa to be nominated at the Kenyan annual Gospel Grooves awards last year, he is one of Zimbabwe’s fine gospel musicians whose music has already crossed national borders within a short period of time.

He is a powerhouse when he hits the stage and is known for songs that can minister to hurting souls such this singer can perform his songs with conviction and confidence, because he, too, perhaps has been through his storms and has overcome.

Born and bred in Chitungwiza, the musician who was raised in a very religious and musically talented family started singing in public at 11 in church. He has to wait until 19 to cut his first studio recording as part of a gospel group called The Burning Bush. Soon after, he started a choir called ZimPraise with his best friend and five other musicians.

In 2011, he launched his first solo album Brighter Day and the track Tomurumbidza was an instant hit on YouTube, exceeding half a million views and this opened doors to the international market. His second album, featuring artist Bayete, went straight to number one on the charts in Zimbabwe and Kenya.

With such a decorated and maturing musical impact like this, the sky is the limit for Tembalami. Yet he remains humble and focused on what he says is the core of his music “loving God & loving people”.  Using every resource and opportunity to break injustice, speak for the voiceless & inspiring hope for the hopeless, for Tembalami music is beyond a career, it’s a calling to touch and positively impact hearts,  making a brighter day for all, one smile at a time!

This belief motivates his music and his work outside the studio. He has the vision to inspire, build, motivate, teach and lead our generation from hopelessness to triumph, by modelling a Jesus-centered lifestyle.

With all that behind him now, he is looking ahead to his fourth album, The Fight which will be launched tomorrow at the Celebration Centre. It has been hinted that the album has collaborations with some of Africa’s talented artistes. Well, there is one way to find out.
