Multi-award-winning South African gospel singer Dr Rebecca Malope who lays the claim to the title “Queen of African Gospel”, is headed for Zimbabwe this merry season as she is expected to grace a local gospel music outfit Breeze Int.’s Breeze Music Gospel Explosion show scheduled for Sunday, December 2.
Breeze Int. are a female gospel music group formed in 2007 by Nyaradzo Maphosa, Melody Mandisodza, Phoebe Maisiri, Monica Mbiba, Blessing Madzanira, Melody Nemutambwe.
According to organisers of the show, Malope is delighted about returning to Zimbabwe for another dance with her local fans.
The diva, popularly know as Sis Ribs, will share the stage with amazing local acts, the likes of ZimPraise, Pastor A. Mahendere, Minister Michael Mahendere, Prudence Katomeni Mbofana, Steeve Dee and the nonesuch Radiance Acapella.
Among the pantheon of female gospel superstars in the continent, the rootsier has always been the sophisticated one, with a profile and a dress sense more usual in a store-front church than on a Paris catwalk.
Malope, whose real name is Batsogile Lovederia Malope, has had a colourful career in gospel music and is armed with over three decades of experience and sold at least 10 million albums worldwide, making her one of the biggest selling gospel artists of all time.
Most of her released thirty-five albums have reached multi-platinum status.
From 2004 to date, Dr Malope has been the hostess of a TV show It’s Gospel Time and in 2013 she was one of the judges in Clash of Choirs South Africa.
Breeze Music Gospel Explosion is happening at Harare International Conference Centre at Rainbow Towers Hotel.
