The All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA recently unveiled the Nominees List for the 2016 edition of Africa’s largest Music Award ceremony. The highly anticipated Nominees List for the 2016 was announced to the world last week in Lagos, Nigeria.With over 2000 entries from the African professional Music fraternity for 34 categories, 10 Regional Category Nominees have been announced ‘The Best Female Artistes and Best Male Artistes’ of the five regions.
Representing Zimbabwe in the ‘Best Female Artist in Southern Africa’ Category are Pah Chihera (Tracy Mbirimi) an Afro-Jazz Artist for her single ‘Nemoyo’ and Contemporary Artist Jah Prayzah (Mukudzeyi Mukombe) for ‘Hello’ in the ‘Best Male Southern Africa’ Category. The two go up some established regional titans such as South Africa’s Lira, Zahara, Black Coffee and AKA respectively, a feat similarly achieved last year by Cindy Munyavi who won the ‘Best Female Artist in Southern Africa’ 2015.
Public voting for the nominees in the different categories of the awards is set to open this week. The All Africa Music Awards will be held in Lagos, Nigeria from November 4-6, 2016 and will include the Africa Music Summit on Friday, November 4, and the AFRIMA Music Village, an open concert-style festival featuring nominees and other top billed music stars. The grand awards ceremony holds on Sunday, November 6 with over 2,500 guests expected in Lagos, Nigeria for the various events.
