The ninth edition of the annual two-day Call to Worship Africa conference is set to happen this weekend, 6-7 October in Harare.
Call to Worship Africa is an annual gathering of Christians who come together from different churches to praise and worship God through music and prayer.
It is an organ of Ebenezer World Outreach Ministries(EWOM), an inter-denominational ministry founded by Pastors Philip and Charlotte Pike based in Harare, Zimbabwe with focus and mandate to evangelize through outreach programs and working closely with the Christian community.
The announcement was issued by the organization via an open invitation to all members of the public. Part of it reads:
‘This year we are inviting you both as our partner and worshiper in the body of Christ to go with us with ONE VOICE for ONE CAUSE, and with ONE PURPOSE. CALL TO WORSHIP 2017! WORSHIP REVOLUTION…Knees bowing and tongues confessing his Lordship will silence every voice that is trying to control our lives and nation. We believe if the church worships as one voice God will come through and bring his order. We want to impact lives in a way that lasts beyond the moment, ministering in such way that the Holy Spirit pours out in waves of revival, so that many are saved into the Kingdom. In this significant 9th year, a year of release, we extend this opportunity to join us in moving a nation into a Worship Revolution.’
This year’s event will run with a scripture from Philippians 2: 9 – 11 which says,
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.’
Established in 2008, the ministry’s outreach programs had various church denominations participating in its annual praise and worship gatherings by 2009. From there Call to Worship Zimbabwe grew in influence and developed, which led to the establishment of “Call to Worship Africa” which was then officially launched in 2012 at the HICC.
Since then they have hosted this event consistently with attendance on average being 3500 to 4500 at their flagship event. They have also managed to groom and build worship/Choir leaders in over 200 churches through their worship seminars and workshops which are held throughout the year.
Last year’s event was held at the Harare International Conference Center under the theme ‘Beyond Worship’. This year it’s happening at the Harare Civic Grounds and admission is free.
The lineup for 2017 Call To Worship Revolution guest artists is yet to be announced, but in recent years the event has witnessed performances from the likes of Pastors Richard Dube, Stanley Gwanzura, Banele Mandaza, Minister Michael Mahendere, Mkhululi Bhebhe, Dudu Manhenga and Janet Manyowa. This year we continue to expect the creme de la creme.
