There is a need to increase the number of festivals in Zimbabwe. There was this sense of the HIFA gap not being filled. There is also a need to bring emerging artists together with renowned artists locally and regionally. What better time than Africa Day to bring Zimbabwean together in an all inclusive festival. The Mabelreign community where Sherwood Golf Course becomes a prime location where the community can be entertained whilst bringing the rest of Harare and hopefully with time the whole nation into our community.

The Jazz and Soul Music Festival had its curtain raiser event yesterday as Sherwood Golf Club hosted music, poetry and dance acts in honour of Africa Day. People were treated to the the very best of percussion instruments and mbira from talented acts such as Hope Masike and Vee Mhofu. While dance acts like Undefined Dancers left the audience in awe and poets like Sox the Poet and Afro Poetic dazzled with words. The night was rounded off with a performance by Nutty O.

Sherwood Golf Club is located at 9 Notely Road, in Harare’s Mabelreign suburb. Tickets aren’t being presold but will be available at the venue.
