Award-winning hip-hop artist Precious Herschneider Frank aka Phreshy’s creative genius is on display once again as she returned to unleash her “Why” visual. The track originally released in 2020 as part of her Dzerudo EP and was produced by Vic Enlisted.
The emotional tour de force RnB song which features RnB singer Chris James as the reynard is about a troubled relationship. Phreshy – who on this track ditches fast raps for melodic blues – is reflecting on the toxic relationship she is stuck in with her partner, Chris. The two can’t stay out of each other’s lives and continue to argue about pretty much the same reasons with the dude constantly reminding Phreshy that she is “insecure” when she asks why he is coming home with a lipstick stain on his shirt and smells like another woman.
The relationship is fast becoming toxic to the lady, as is portrayed by the hot mess that Phreshy in the video. Lawd knows how hot and sexy she is in this video, but damn all that is ruined by the bitter, mournful, and gloomy tone. The lyrics are a bit on-the-nose, even measured against her usual blunt style.
The video synopsis reads:
“Phreshy is still battling to understand where her relationship with her boyfriend is going, she is asking him why does love hurt so much. She is searching for an answer lets hope she finds it. Love does not have to hurt, your relationship should erase your tears, not your smile. True love heals.”
The video was directed by Tatenda Zhou.
It’s heavy stuff, and I apologize if this song sticks in your head for the remainder of the day.
