As the build up to Zimbabwe’s premier Festival, The Vic Falls Carnival continues, we caught up with the organisers and asked them a few questions. They dished out info on the star studded lineup, which includes the Africa’s biggest DJ export, Black Coffee. The team explained a new change in the itinerary and also a few surprises in the bag! Here is what they had to say to us!

You’ve had a variety of headliners in the past, what prompted you to headline Black Coffee?

Every year we try to up the ante! We wanted to bring a really special artist to this event and with Black Coffee’s meteoric rise there couldn’t have been a better act to secure. He is a true icon for Africa.

What does the Vic Falls Carnival Holiday mean to a local Zimbabwean who wants to enter the New Year in style?

There is no festival like it in Zimbabwe. It’s easily accessible with Party Bus, flight and self-drive options. It is a melting pot of the best in artists from all over Africa and unbelievable crowd of adventurous music lovers from all over the world. There is no other option if you want an unforgettable New Year’s!

Any new experiences added to the Carnival Itinerary?

We are adding a 2nd concert on the 30th of December, so for the same price you get an extra 8 hours of magic.

This year’s Carnival has a lot going on and is missing a usual feature, ‘Jameson’ why is that?

As a festival grows and expands the associated brands sometimes change. Jameson has been a great partner but we have a new partner on board for this year, that is making huge waves in Zimbabawe and is the perfect fit for our brand! Watch this space for more details.

What is the Carnival’s policy on artist selection with local Zimbabwean acts in mind?

We always try to book different acts so that there is something for everyone. You may come see an act you love but you will discover a new one. We are always open to exploring new acts and spend a lot of time selecting our artists.

The Vic Falls Carnival has been on a journey at nearly a decade old…what would you name as some of the highlights of the festival?

Having the legend Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi on our stage was a true highlight, Goldfish bringing in the New Year with fire dancers and huge white balls were truly unforgettable, a few years ago Mampi and her dancers brought the house dance with their electric dance moves. To be honest every year it’s something else.

Any surprises you want to let out of the bag?

Then it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it? You have to get your tickets to truly experience this event in all its wonder.

The Vic Falls Carnival is an annual festival which happens between the 29th and the 31st of December in the resort town of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. It brings together a large contingent of revellers from different countries around the world starving for a different New Year’s experience.
