Why 2016 Has Been A Good Year For The First Floor Gallery

It is clear that 2016 has been a great year at First Floor Gallery which is based Harare. They have presented first time solo exhibitions and talks by local visual artists Takunda Regis Billiat, Miriro Mwandiambira, Helen Teede, Julio Rizhi, Troy Makaza, Thomas Muziyirwa and Elise Swain (New York).

According to a press statement, the artist-run gallery also took part in international Visual Arts events, presenting their stable of artists to audiences in Cape Town, New York, London, Johannesburg and Paris.
Achieving tremendous critical and press engagement for artists in newspapers such as New York Times, The Art Newspaper and Le Monde as well as noted online platforms like Artsy.com. Two of the artists in their stead Wycliffe Mundopa and Gresham Tapiwa Nyaude have since been featured repeatedly in the press.

First Floor Gallery Harare ends a notable year with a presentation this Friday the 16th of December titled ‘What is Love’ by photographer Angela Fama who in this project travelled far and wide interviewing people about their idea of love.
