Mudiwa Hood finally dropped the full length video to his track Slayin’ 2 weeks ago. We had been teased by a trailer which got a cosign from MTVBase a couple of weeks ago and the wait had been excruciating. This track laden with lines of braggadocio has been ‘blessed’ with visuals that clearly represent the main theme of the track, ‘slaying whilst praying’!
Shot in Domboshava at the house of one infamous socialite, Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure, the video channels the elements that have made Mudiwa the bad boy of Zim Hip Hop. He is unapologetic in flaunting the cars, the house and the designer clothes. Mudiwa literally took over the whole life of the stinking rich Ginimbi. Driving ‘his’ Bentley and chilling on the balcony of this gem of real state hidden in the mountains of Domboshava, Mudiwa embodied the life of the ultra-rich. It’s not disturbing or surprising that a Christian Hip Hop artist would go to those lengths, look at our pastors!
Andy Cutter did a great job with the video. The shots are clean and the colour grading which Andy is known for being the King of is very simply breathtaking. It seems like the gloves are of this year in the Music Video directing business. Mudiwa might have a caused a stir with this video but will he maintain this momentum till the end of the year?
