After collaborating with ExQ on the hit song “Mashoko” in 2023 that firmly put her in the spotlight, Kim Makumbe’s star has continued to rise in 2024 with a steady stream of well timed singles. Having released the solo tracks “Crush” and “Ndendichitodawo” earlier in the year, the singer has collaborated with Nyasha David on the duet “Drowning (Ndawira).” A love song centred on the feeling of falling in love.

Ever experimental in her sound, “Ndawira” sees Makumbe combining pop balladry with reggaeton influences. The Afrobeats song is produced by Rodney Beatz and it has an infectious that’s put over the top by Shamex’s blooming guitar work.
Although the instrumental is vibrant Kim Makumbe’s vocals are as smooth as ever, giving the song a soft landing on the ear. Nyasha David’s baritone is the perfect vocal offset that gives “Ndawira” the balance every duet needs.
