Harare, Zimbabwe – Music Connects Africa, an accelerator program from emerging artists, has brought to life the first edition of the compilation album 8 Piece Combo.
Inspired by some of Zimbabwe’s favourite fast food meal combos from outlets such as Chicken Inn and KFC, the compilation serves up a flavourful mix of sounds and styles. Just as a meal combo offers variety, this album brings together eight tracks created through cross-genre collaboration blending Afro-fusion, R&B, Hip Hop, House, and traditional Zimbabwean sounds to deliver a rich and eclectic listening experience.
“This project is a celebration of the creative energy and diversity shaping Zimbabwe’s contemporary music scene. It showcases what can happen when young artists, producers, and managers come together to collaborate and innovate,” said Charleen Moyo, A&R Manager at Terminal One.
8 Piece Combo Vol 1 Compilation features a vibrant line-up of artists including Brintz, Noluntu J, Chioniso from Bulawayo, and Melyssa, Paintafresco, Masa Caroleen, Danai Clay, and Raven Duchess from Harare. The production team features acclaimed producers TAPIWA, Verseless, and Texas.
Terminal One Africa, a division of Kay Media Africa is spearheading the rollout of the album. With its expertise in connecting Zimbabwean music to audiences worldwide, Terminal One aims to position 8 Piece Combo as a benchmark for collaboration-driven African music projects.
The compilation album is the product of the songwriting and recording camp held under the Music Connects Africa Programme, an initiative by the British Council in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in Zimbabwe.
