Niasha is described as an artist that truly personifies the saying that dynamites come in small packages. The Zimbabwean born singer, songwriter, rapper and spoken word artist is currently based in Melbourne, Australia. She attributes her upbringing in Zimbabwe as paramount to her sound and development as a creative artist. She recently revealed that she was joining Zambian artist Sampa the Great’s “As Above, As Below” European tour.
The tour is set to have 10 stops, each in a different city and it’ll be across 6 countries. It will be running from the end of June until just after the middle of July. This is not the first time the two artists have performed together. In 2022 Niasha shared the stage with Sampa as she performed a Shona spoken word piece.
Thank you so much, Sampa The Great for having me as part of “Shadows” to perform a spoken word fully in Shona, the language of my people. It was truly an honour to speak to the message of As Above So Below and do it with family – Niasha via Instagram
The stage name Niasha comes from a reworking of her real name Nyasha Dzingai. Niasha’s creativity and talent have given her the ability to explore multiple genres of music. You can never tell what to expect from her, which she believes is her superpower. A lover of psychology, community, enjoyment and love; Niasha delves into these themes through her music and visual conceptualisation.
Earlier this year Complex Magazine took notice of her as they featured her single “Move” on their list of Best New Australian Music for March 2023.
