Officially opened in July last year, Pikicha Gallery continues to earn itself a name as a place of artistic expression and innovation. The latest exhibition to open at the gallery is that of renowned artist Don Zvaitika Muwani.

The Don Muwani exhibition which opened this week is set to celebrate his 21 years of art, pyrography and his other forms of artistic expression. Set to run for an unspecified time in March, the exhibition will be free to view. Muwani who is regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most talented pyrography artists, also paints using acrylics and oil on canvas.

He was introduced to the art of pyrography by his friend Cuthbert Matibiri in 2002 and since then he hasn’t looked back. Pyrography basically means writing with fire, and it’s commonly referred to as wood burning but pyrography extends to any receptive surface and not just wood.

Pikicha is a multifaceted creative space. It’s a cutting-edge gallery focusing on high quality contemporary art, as well as a co workspace and event space with keen interest in creatives. It’s experimental and innovative approach challenges the boundaries of the gallery and art scene.
