Zimbabwean designer and Ivhu Tribe founder, Jasper Mandizera, left his mark at the 2025 edition of the “Threads of Unity: Belt & Road Fashion Show” hosted by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in China. Mandizera was part of 30 designers from across the world (4 being from Africa) who showcased at the event, and he proved himself a cut above the rest as he was voted Outstanding Designer.

Blending Zimbabwean fabric and ancestral techniques with Chinese designs, Mandizera not only show the uniqueness of Zimbabwean culture but bridged the gap between two cultures. The designer has long been celebrated for his one of a kind creations and this has seen him designing the national costumes for Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024, Sakhile Dube, and the 2025 representative, Lyshanda Moyas.

Mandizera has been working in the fashion industry since 2013. He established Ivhu Tribe just over 2 years ago and the brand is deeply committed to preserving Zimbabwe’s cultural identity through fashion.

The “Threads of Unity: Belt and Road Fashion Show” is part of PolyU’s Chinese Culture Festival. The 2 day event brings together a dazzling fashion show, exhibition, cultural lecture and workshop that celebrate creativity, artistic collaboration, technology, and Chinese cultural heritage. It features 35 designers and professionals from 30 regions along the Belt and Road routes, spanning Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Oceania.
