Zimbabwean actor, Daniel Lasker, stars in the new Hollywood film ‘London Calling’. Released in cinemas this past week the action comedy was directed by Allan Ungar and written by Omer Levin Menekse, Quinn Wolfe and Ungar. It stars Josh Duhamel, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Rick Hoffman, and Aidan Gillen.

London Calling is based on a simple plot: After fleeing the UK from a hit job gone wrong, a down-on-his-luck Tommy (Josh Duhamel) is forced to babysit Julian (Jeremy Ray Taylor), the 18-year-old son of his new crime boss Benson, and show him how to “become a man.” The fun filled film has gunfights, car chases, and a healthy dose juvenile hijinks.

Underlying this is theme of larping, and Daniel Lasker plays an “outstanding role” as Bobby Barnabus, who is Julian’s Larp/cosplay foil. Live action role-playing, larping in short, is a form of role-playing game where the participants physically portray their characters.

London Calling has so far received mixed reviews and currently holds a 50% approval rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

Daniel Lasker has featured in the HBO Max series “Raised by Wolves”, as well as “Noughts + Crosses” for BBC One, “Vagrant Queen” for Syfy, and “Abraham Lincoln” on the History Channel.

In 2022, his was behind the IsiNdebele sci-fi, “The Signal”.
