The Friends of the Gallery (FOG), in conjunction with the Festival of Song Zimbabwe, will be staging a presentation of Carmen: A Journey through the Faces of Love as part of the FOG’s multidisciplinary activities.
Carmen: A Journey through the Faces of Love is an interpretation of Georges Bizet’s 1875 tale of a maverick traveler woman and her love affair. The piece will be delivered by Sound of Joy and Ruwa Chorale.
Following the success of the October edition of the Opera, the Friends of the Gallery have organized a sophomore event which will not only be bedazzled in love, but take place on Valentine’s Day to fully celebrate the feelings of love encompassed within the performance.
“We kick of our activities this year with a second edition of Opera Night, theming it to love as we are holding the event of Valentine’s Day,” said Alice Mlambo, the Chairman of the Friends of the Gallery. Joseph Ndlovu, the Festival of Song Director extended a special invite to members of the public for the event, “to come experience a classic such as Carmen in a localized twist.”
Carmen: A Journey through the Faces of Love will take place at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe on Saturday the 14th of February 2026, from 18:00hrs. The event will be strictly Black Tie, with tickets available from the Artlife Shop at the National Gallery and Flippin Tickets.
The Friends of the Gallery of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe is a group of individuals and corporations who voluntarily support the Museum by raising funds, promoting its exhibitions, advocating for its collections, and often organizing special events or educational programs to engage the community with art, essentially acting as a dedicated support network for the gallery’s operations and development.
