As the country proceeds to crawl in the muddy floods of economic and social unrest, gospel musician and Celebration Ministries International cleric Pastor Bonnie Deuschle has released a single titled You’re Here.
The bilingual song which runs for over four minutes is meant to instill hope among Zimbabweans who are going through challenging times in almost every aspect of their lives.
Officially launched last Sunday, the song lifted the congregants spiritually as many stood up to sing along.
You’re Here is a precursor to Pastor Bonnie’s upcoming 6th album, Heaven’s Song.
Deuschle said she was inspired to do the single by difficult times she went through, including her parents’ sickness and subsequent deaths, during the recording of the album.
“I went through a lot as we were trying to record for the past two years. It was a challenge to get all the songs done. My mum and dad died in the middle of our recording. I literally felt the delay was in the hands of God, hence the title: You’re Here,” she told a local paper.
Heaven’s Song is set for launch in Kenya this May.
The frontwoman of the KORA-nominated Celebration Choir said her taking the album launch to the East African country owes much to the inhabitants’ unwavering support for her music.
‘We chose Kenya because it’s one of the biggest supporters of our music. Everyone knows our song Tambira. Every Kenyan that I meet knows it. I have met so many in America,” she said.
Heaven’s Song album is a follow-up to her previously released albums that include Change the World (Live) (2006), Change the World (2007), God in In This Place (2014), One True Lord (2015), Seven Times a Day (2016) and Yahweh.
Since her inception in the gospel industry or calling rather, Pastor Bonnie has become a vessel of Praise and worship, too soothing not to be reckoned with.
In 2016, she was nominated for the Best Gospel Artist in Africa Award category on the African Entertainment Awards-USA were held on October 22 at Liberty Theatre Elizabeth in New Jersey United States.
In the same year, she was nominated for the inaugural Trumpet Africa Gospel Music Awards (Tagma) held at Pretoria State Theatre in South Africa on May 29. Together with Rev. TT Chivaviro, they were the only Zimbabweans nominated at the awards. They were nominated for Best Gospel Collaboration.
In 2016 she was also nominated in the Zimbabwe Top Gospel Music Female Artist of the Year Award category for the Zimbabwe Gospel Music Awards together with Sharon Manyonganise, Olinda Marowa, Janet Manyowa, and Mabel Madondo.
