‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.’ Romans 8;28
God has a very great purpose for his people by their eternal calling and their wonderful redemption.
But, with the rise of so many highly-opinionated preachers, men of clothes, evangelists, and prophets who are so engrossed in pushing their diversified agendas, the majority of Christians haven’t realized this. People are joining the church for different reasons now because Jesus Christ and God’s purpose is being preached differently.
Many believers have given testimonies of how they went to church just to hook up with someone because the preacher said God has the perfect mate for them, others come just to be successful in life. Somewhere somehow, we all can relate to some of these theories.
But the question stands here, is this all God called us for and contextually, is this his ‘purpose?’
The point here is that Christians have to go further than just knowing that they are saved and rejoicing it.
The Bible gives us a story of the Israelites. They were not just called to get out of Egypt, they had a promise for a better place; a land that flows milk and honey.
Using this as an analogy, saints also are not just freed from the clutches of the devil or blessed with all the possessions they want. We are called with a great purpose, an eternal vocation.
Apostle Paul spent his whole career trying to make the believers see that it is a great thing to which we are called in Christ. We are not meant just to be redeemed, get to heaven, know that our trespasses are absolved or to have a certain number of blessings. But, there is before bigger, bulkier and better things. The amazing part of it is that we haven’t even seen or heard it, as attested by this verse.
‘But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.’ 1 Cor. 2;9
Therefore, our final word here is that Christians should stand firm on their faith and strive to see what God has in store for them.
