COVID-19 Positive Cases Rise to Eight in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s Health Ministry, on Monday, revealed one more COVID-19 case increasing the number of positive cases to 8 from 7.
The eight cases from the pandemic include one death.
“The Ministry would like to report that today (30 March 2020), the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory tested 47 samples. One of these, a contact of the third case, tested positive for COVID-19,” an update on COVID-19 says.

” The Ministry would like to advise the nation that the three cases reported by Mashonaland East province are cases which had already been reported as Harare cases, as they had been manged at Wilkins Hospital, Harare.”

Zimbabwe has done 241 COVID-19 tests and eight were positive whilst 233 turned out to be negative as at 30 March 2020, with 9 suspected cases from Mashonaland East. Mashonaland East has three COVID-19 positive cases.
The province has also 18 people who are contacts of the three positive cases.

Information from Mashonaland East says  “Screening at all ports of entry Nyamapanda boarder Post and Robert Gabriel International Airport is being done routinely.”
“The cumulative total for the cases under surveillance is at 122 with 16 having completed the 21 days surveillance period without development of COVID-19 symptoms and 15 have returned to their countries.”

At an international scale COVID-19 recorded cases are 785,807, with 37,820 and 165,659 as of 31 March 2020.
The pandemic is affecting 200 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances: the Diamond Princess cruise ship harboured in Yokohama, Japan, and the Holland America’s MS Zaandam cruise ship.
