The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has announced the departure of long serving executive director, Mrs Polisile Ncube Chimhini, bringing to a close a 30 year stint at the organisation.

“The board of directors of Zimbabwe Music Rights Association wishes to formally advise its members and stakeholders that Mrs Polisile Ncube Chimhini has concluded her tenure as Executive Director of the association, immediately,” read ZIMURA’s statement.

“This follows a period of engagement and reflection during which Mrs Chimhini indicated her intention to pursue other professional avenues after many years of dedicated service to the association and the broader intellectual property sector,” said the board. Over this period, she played a pivotal role in shaping the association and advancing music copyright administration in Zimbabwe and beyond.”

The executive director had been at the centre of ZIMURA’s recent controversy, with the High Court having ruled that ZIMURA has no executive director position under its articles of association. This followed the director’s conviction of fraud, which saw multiple stakeholders calling for her resignation.
