Zimbabwe’s First Sci-Fi Film “The Signal” Set for Worldwide Release on DUST

Zimbabwe’s first ever Sci-Fi Film The Signal, continues breaking new ground. The film is set for a worldwide release on DUST, arguably the most popular Sci-Fi platform in the world. The development was announced by one of the lead actors Tawanda Denga via Twitter.

So excited to announce that this Wednesday 22nd February, The Signal will be releasing worldwide on DUST, YouTube’s most popular Sci-Fi channel! The film will go live 9 am PST, 7 pm Zimbabwean time! Let’s get the word out there! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

DUST is a sci-fi brand that presents thought-provoking visions of the future. It searches for the best sci-fi stories from filmmakers, writers and creators around the world. From feature films to short films, series and podcasts, DUST works with established and emerging voices.

DUST has amassed over 3 million followers across its various platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, VRV, Pluto TV, Xumo, NBC WatchBack, Vizio, and the TBD Channel.

The Signal is a Ndebele short film starring Tawanda Denga, Dumie Manyathela, and Natasha Dlamini filmed in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It was directed filmed and produced by filmmaker and actor Daniel Lasker.

According to it’s synopsis: A deadly sound transmitted from space known as “The Signal”, corrupts the minds of all who hear it, turning them into soulless Demons under its control. The film is set in a post apocalyptic Bulawayo.

The Signal has been showcased at multiple international film festivals and last year it was awarded the Best Animated Short Fim Award at the Brooklyn Sci-Fi Film Festival, in New York.
