Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is clashing with the sports governing institution the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) over the suspension of General Secretary Mr Joseph Mamutse.
The ZIFA board informs that it is now in receipt of the suspension letter of the ZIFA General Secretary Mr Joseph Mamutse penned by the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) Chairperson, Mr Gerald Mlotshwa.

“ZIFA is now seized with the matter and as already communicated believes there was and still no justification of this intervention by the SRC both procedurally and materially,” the football organising board says in a media statement.
“Accordingly, as resolved by the ZIFA board meeting of 29 November 2020 and as communicated in our media statement of 29 November 2020, ZIFA will work towards ensuring that fairness, justice and good governance are not only protected but implemented.”

The latest conflict between ZIFA and SRC stems from allegations that Mamutse violated the national COVID-19 health regulations during Mighty Warriors and Young Warriors trips to South Africa for COSAFA tournaments.
The country’s football governing board has already approached FIFA over SRC intervention into Mamutse’s case.
FIFA once warned Zimbabwe that the world board will ban the country from participating in international football if government continued to intervene in ZIFA affairs.
