One of Gospel’s most buzzed about new artists and the man behind Jesu Anogona Zvese, Wenyasha Chingono has spoken about his upcoming Taste of Glory Live DVD Recording, saying live recording is more personal as he gets to interact with people.
Wenyasha revealed this in a free-wheeling question and answer session with Journalist Takudzwa Chihambakwe.
Asked why he chose to do a DVD and the inspiration behind it the musician said:
‘We are living in an era where music followers are captivated by visuals and I thought what a better way than a live recording. A live recording is more personal, I get to interact with people and in turn, they respond to me. That is the feel that worship music or gospel needs as it ministers directly to the soul. A live recording also captures the emotions in their raw form hence is more authentic than doctored atmospheres during studio recordings.’
Wenyasha, whose span in the music ministry nears three years now and boasts collaborations with the likes of Takesure Zamar, added that the live recording session is also essential in measuring how impactful his music is and, that South African gospel juggernaut Dr Tumi’s GOW inspired how he picked his lineup for the event.
‘I want to be able to also gauge how my music is impacting people’s lives through this recording. My desire is to see people worship God in one voice and that ambience is crucial in the gospel. If you look at the lineup, you will see that all are worshipers and this idea is inspired by Dr Tumi’s gathering of worshipers. This is where artists lay aside their egos for the purpose of worshiping God. I would also like to foster the culture of working together between artists through this DVD.’
He is hopeful that this project will push boundaries for his ministry and is also convicted that with the effort and investment that they are putting in the DVD will be likely to penetrate an international market.
‘I am believing God that this DVD will minister greatly to lives not just in Zimbabwe but Africa and the world. We are investing much in quality and expertise so we are trusting God that the DVD will be accepted around the world. We also trust God that this DVD will establish our ministry and music in Zimbabwe and beyond,’ he said.
The Taste of Glory Live DVD Recording is happening on Saturday the 7th of April at Theatre in the Park in Harare Gardens, from 1600-1800hrs. Supporting him will be Janet Manyowa, Takesure Zama, Ellard Cherayi, Allen Jenje, Trust Ngwenya, and Bongani Mhlabi, among others.
