Winter season is destined to be hotter as the United Kingdom-based gospel musician and Minister Jane Doka is coming out with a new album, her fourth project to date, entitled First Love.

The album, consisting of eight hand-plucked songs from Jane’s dozens of an unproduced library, is expected to see the day on the dawn of next month, July 1st, and will mark the musician’s rebound from a six-year surcease.

Produced by Clive Mono Mukundu and Aaron Zex Manatsa, the album is formed around mid-tempo to mellow and features a concoction of afro-fusions reflecting on Doka’s immense artistic style.

It has been revealed that the message on the offing offering is clear as she is urging listeners to return and remain in God, who she proffers as the First Love.

Encapsulating the theme of the new album, Jane said:

“First Love is about going back to where I began, in the love of God and in the love for music.”

During her hexad lull, Jane reflected on her journey and the plentiful disappointments she had encountered on many fronts including in music, the area of her greatest passion.

She says, in her heart she heard God speaking to her so clearly that most of our frustrations were because as we continue in what we do we sometimes lose focus on God and instead focus on what we are doing and on ourselves that we forget the One who began a good in work in us, our First Love, Jesus Christ Himself.

“It felt like it had become about what people think and say and how I felt not what God thought. Although I was doing it for God it felt it too heavy and I knew something wasn’t right because He says my yoke is easy my burden is light”, Jane says.

Now, to the uninitiated, the musician’s name might sound a little unheard of, but technically she has been around for a full decade ago.

Born and nourished in Zimbabwe, she is a UK based Zimbabwean Gospel singer-songwriter, artist and minister. She started singing at an early age but only recorded her first album entitled Nditumeyi in 2008. Jane entitled her debut album Nditumeyi (Send Me) as a direct answer to the call on her life which she had known years before, to spread the gospel through song.

Jane’s sincere Christian faith is unmistaken in each one of her songs which she both writes and composes by herself. She has released two other albums since her debut album, which are Tenda-Live in Concert (2010) and Reflections-Mirangariro (2012).

After her last release in 2012 which was produced by Clive Mono Mukundu and featured talented artists including Dereck Mpofu and Esther Mukazika, Jane performed alongside other great gospel musicians including Nathaniel Bassey, Charles Charamba, Fungisai Zvakavapano and Sabastian Magacha.

She has been spotlighted on several TVs, radio stations and press interviews both in the UK and in Zimbabwe.

After taking time out in 2014 to focus on her education and her young family, Jane Doka dedicated most of her time to fixate on church ministry and supporting community projects including the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA) UK where she served as a panellist. It is in that period that she also penned down songs for the new album First Love.
