Tourism Authority To Continue Working on the Joshua Nkomo Heritage Trail

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is continuing to work with other partners in developing the Joshua Nkomo Heritage Trail into a product for tourists, the parastatal’s chief executive Rita Likukuma revealed during the 20th anniversary Joshua Nkomo Day Commemorations.
Zimbabweans commemorate the life of Dr Joshua Nkomo on the 1st of July every year, after the contributions he made to the liberation of the African country.

“My team is on the ground with me they have taken note of how to develop this product we will reconvene with the Trust to map a solid way forward to bring this dream to life,” Likukuma said.
“We remain committed working with other relevant partners in developing these trails until they are a fully-fledge tourism product.”

ZTA has a role of identifying and developing tourism products that have potential in the country.
The Joshua Nkomo Heritage Trail takes one on a historic journey on the life of the late Zimbabwe’s Vice President.

“As a nation, we value our founding fathers for the role they played in liberating our great nation, hence our story as a nation can never be complete without their mention,” Likukuma said.

Trails, which include the Joshua Nkomo Heritage Trail, are part of the tourism products which takes one on a historic journey around a particular event or person.
Dr Joshua Nkomo, who died of prostate cancer on the 1st of July 1999, is well known in Zimbabwe for preaching about peace and unity in the country.
This year’s Joshua Nkomo Day commemoration went with the theme “I am because you are”
