NAMA Award winning Zim hip hop artist, Ti Gonzi, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison following a conviction for unlawful possession of illicit drugs and driving without a driver’s licence.
The rapper is however set to serve 8 months, after 2 months of his sentence were suspended for good behaviour. In addition he was also fined $100 for driving without a licence and for 3 additional traffic‑related offences.
After being stopped for driving through a red light in early February, a search of his car uncovered dagga and Bron Cleer syrup, which lead to his immediate detention.
The magistrate delivered the judgment, noting the seriousness of drug possession and traffic violations, and ordered the forfeiture of the seized substances.
Ti Gonzi was recently in the media for founding Musicians For ED, alongside fellow artist Ishan.
