The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTAs) are calling for submissions for their 2024 edition. Running under the theme Frame by Frame: Building a Thriving Cinematic Landscape, the award show is set for late November this year.
The ZAFTAs are the premier event that recognizes and celebrates the outstanding achievements and contributions of Zimbabwean actors, directors, producers, writers, presenters, technicians, and other industry players, connecting them to global audiences.
Submissions for the award show will be across 30+ different categories but for 5 key genres, which are feature films, short films, documentaries, animation and television productions. This year the awards will 3 international categories, recognising Zimbabwean filmmakers from across the border:
International Feature Film
International Short Film
International Documentary
Outstanding Performance in the Diaspora
Submissions are open to all Zimbabwean filmmakers, with eligible film productions being from January, 2022 to September 10, 2024, and eligible television productions being from September 2023 and September 2024. Only productions that haven’t been previously submitted are eligible.
This year’s submission deadline is 10 September 2024. Filmmakers can submit their work via filmfreeway.
