The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTA/ZAFTAs) were officially launched on the 21st of July on a virtual forum via Zoom.
The initiative is aimed at recognizing and celebrating the best of the Zimbabwean film and television industry. Running under the theme of “Leveraging Business Synergies for Global Impact”, the awards are seeking to promote creativity, excellence, and diversity in the industry by recognizing outstanding achievements in various categories.
The event is calling for submissions of films, television shows, and other content created from January 2018 to August 2023 under the following categories:

They may also be other special awards awarded at the discretion of the ZAFTAs Executive and Judging Committees.
Submissions are set to be open from 21 July 2023 until 10 September 2023. Nominees will be announced between 20 – 30 October 2023 and the award show held on 2 December 2023.

The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ) is also running the ZAFTAs Trophy Design Contest for the Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTA). The winning design will be presented as the award trophy to the winners at the 2023 Inaugural Awards Gala.
The winner will receive a $200 cash prize, an all-expense-paid trip to the ZAFTAs, VIP ticket(s) for the awards ceremony and after party, recognition at the 2023 ZAFTA Awards Gala in front of winners, leaders, and attendees, and recognition in ZAFTA’s promotional channels and ZAFTAs magazine.
